Research proved the anti-oxidant in grape can prevent from colon
carcinoma
Researchers
discovered an anti-oxidant from blue berry and grape can protect
the infestation from colon carcinoma. According to the research,
the most common blue berry should be included in the “super anticancer
food” list.
The small-scale experiment in mouse discovered
this compound can protect mouse from this kind of disease. Researchers
injected 18 mice with one compound to simulate the formation of
human colon carcinoma. Then just fed 9 mice balanced nourishment,
and fed the rest mice an antioxidant named pterostilbene which extract
from the berry in addition. After 8 weeks, the initial colon carcinoma
symptom of mice fed with pterostilbene released 57% than mice without
pterostilbene treatment.
Last Sunday, in the American Chemical Society
Annual Meeting in Chicago researchers reported that pterostilbene
not only reduce the metastasis of colon carcinoma cells, but also
inhibit the expression of some certain genes. Both two aspects are
considered as the risk factors of colon carcinoma. Professor Bandaru
Reddy, Bio-Chemistry Department, Rutgers University, New Jersey,
said: this result emphasizes that we should take more berry in our
daily diet.
Researchers should take further study to
evaluate how important role pterostilbene plays. However they indicated
that berry can not only decrease cholesterol level, but also balance
high saturated fat and high calorie western common diet which likely
induce colon carcinoma. Besides, the researcher from Ohio State
University said, they began clinical experiment to test whether
blue berry can prevent the infringement from esophageal cancer and
colon carcinoma.
In the mice experiment, berry occupied 5%
to 10% to the total diet, the tumor in the esophagus reduced 60%,
colon tumor reduced 80% (max.). The researcher from University of
Alabama said, the result of third round test shows the compound
extracted from the grape seed can also protect human from the skin
cancer. Overexposure in the UV will depress the capacity of immunologic
system, and the material from the grape seed can recover its original
function. This conclusion based on the mouse cell tube test.
According to this report from Californian researcher, organic product can surely make people healthier. Through the comparison between the organic fruit and traditional cultivation fruit, they found that polyphenol in organic fruits greatly increased. Besides, antioxidant and Vitamin C also increased dramatically. The researchers of University of California said that both kinds of fruit are growing in the same farm with same climate and environment, which guarantee the accuracy of the experimental data.
